What is gay

“Gay” means someone who likes people of the same gender. For example, some people like boys and some people like girls, but if someone is “gay,” they like people who are the same gender as them. It’s really no big deal – it’s just like liking people who have brown hair or blue eyes! In fact, about 8 million people in the United States identify as gay, and it’s becoming more and more accepted all the time. So if someone is “gay,” it’s just something that makes them special – just like liking puppies or candy or something else that’s really fun! Fun fact: The first openly gay person in the U.S. was a woman named Barbara Gittings, who was an activist in the 1960s.
