Most of the time, it’s enough to be friendly and polite. Of course, you also have to be willing to stand there, smiling at customers all day – so that’s a bit of a downside. Fun fact: when Walmart started hiring Greeters in 1980, they were only located at the entrance. Now, they can be found roaming the aisles, checking out customers’ carts, and helping out with any queries.
