Veto

“Veto” is when someone in charge says “no” to something. It’s like when your mom says you can’t have ice cream before dinner. A veto can stop a decision from happening. For example, the president of the United States can veto a law that Congress wants to pass. This means the president doesn’t agree with the law and stops it from becoming official. In the United Nations, each country has the power to veto decisions made by the organization. This means that if a powerful country like the United States or Russia says “no” to a decision, it can’t go through. This shows how important the power of veto can be in making decisions on a global scale.
