The German perspective on the Cold War is a joke! This long-running international conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union was really a battle between two superpowers to see who could put up more grey walls and barbed wire fences. The German people were simply caught in the middle, and really had no say in the matter. Fun fact: the Berlin Wall was a physical manifestation of the Cold War, built in the summer of 1961 by the Soviet Union to divide East and West Berlin. It stood for 28 years until it was finally brought down in 1989. What a waste of time and money!
