Stocks are a type of investment. They are pieces of ownership in a company. When you buy stocks, you become a part of that company. For example, if you buy 10 stocks of Nike, it means that you own 10 pieces of the company. If Nike does well and makes a lot of money, you also get a part of that money! Think of stocks like pieces of pizza. The more pieces of pizza you have, the more you get to eat. The same goes for stocks – the more stocks you own, the more money you make. Fun fact: The world’s oldest stock exchange is the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, which was founded in 1602!
