Stocks

Stocks are pieces of ownership in a company. Just like you can own a bike, or a car, or a toy, you can also own a piece of a company. When you own a stock, you become a part-owner of the company, and that company can make you money! For example, if you owned a stock in a company like Microsoft, and Microsoft was doing really well, their stock might go up in value. That would mean that the value of your stock would go up too, and you would make money! Here’s a fun fact: the oldest stock exchange in the world is in Amsterdam, and it’s been around since 1602!
