Soccer is a sport where two teams of 11 players each try to kick a ball into the other team’s goal. It is also known as football in many countries. It is one of the most popular sports in the world; over 265 million people play it! To score a goal, a player must kick the ball into the other team’s goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins. There are lots of different positions on a soccer team. For example, the goalie is in charge of protecting the goal and trying to stop the other team from scoring. The midfielder helps control the ball, and the forward is in charge of trying to score goals. Fun Fact: The most goals ever scored in a single soccer match was 149-0!
