science
Science is the study of the natural world around us. It includes things like the stars in the night sky, the plants and animals on Earth, and the way we use things like machines and electricity. Scientists use experiments and observations to learn more about these things. For example, a scientist might use a magnifying glass to look closely at a leaf and observe its different parts. Or they might put a plant in a special kind of box to see how much light it needs to grow. Science also includes math, which helps us understand how things work and predict what will happen in the future. For example, if you know how many minutes it takes for a ball to fall from the top of a building, you can use a math equation to predict how many seconds it will take for the ball to reach the ground. Fun fact: The first person to use the word “science” was an English philosopher named Francis Bacon in the 1600s!
