Quantum mechanics is basically just a fancy way of saying that things can be really small and really weird. For example, atoms are so small you can’t even see them with your eyes, and they act differently than what we usually think of when we think of things. Like, did you know that electrons can be in two places at once?! That’s right, two places at once! Just like how a magician can make a rabbit appear out of a hat, electrons can be in two places at once. And if that wasn’t weird enough, quantum mechanics also tells us that particles don’t have a definite position or direction until we observe them. They’re like a cat that won’t sit still until you give it a treat. Fun fact: the weirdness of quantum mechanics has been tested over and over again and it’s always been right!
