Nuclear Fusion

Nuclear Fusion is the process of combining two or more atomic nuclei at a very high temperature to form a new nucleus. It is basically a controlled version of the same process that powers stars like the sun. And you thought you were hot stuff graduating college! Ha! Nuclear Fusion releases energy that is far greater than energy released from fission, the other type of nuclear reaction. That’s right, even atoms can outshine you! Nuclear Fusion has been used to power rockets and spacecraft since the 1950s. It has also been used as a potential power source here on Earth, though it has yet to be realized. But don’t worry, you still have the upper hand in other areas. Fun Fact: Nuclear Fusion is one of the most powerful energy sources known to man, but it is still not powerful enough to propel a spacecraft to other galaxies!
