Nuclear fusion: it’s like some kind of sciencey magic trick, where you take two small things–like, really really small things–and combine them to make a bigger thing. The difference with nuclear fusion is that the bigger thing is actually energy. It’s like you take two tiny hydrogen atoms and you meld them together to create a bigger helium atom, and that process releases energy that’s millions of times more powerful than burning coal! Fun fact: the energy released in a single fusion reaction is equivalent to the power of a lightning bolt. So there you have it, nuclear fusion. A fancy way of saying “we’re gonna turn tiny stuff into energy and make a lot of it”.
