musical notes

Really Dumb

musical notes
Musical notes are symbols used to write down music. They are like letters of the alphabet, only instead of representing words, they represent sounds. For example, a note on a musical staff tells a musician which note to play, how long to play it, and how loud to play it. A musical staff is like a ladder with five horizontal lines. On the lines and in the spaces between the lines, musicians can put notes to tell them which notes to play. Each line and each space represents a different note. For example, on a piano, the notes on the first line of the staff represent the white keys. The notes between the lines represent the black keys. Fun fact: Did you know that the notes in between the lines on the staff are called “ledger lines”!
