Lips
Lips are the parts of your face that are usually in the shape of a line around your mouth. They help you with speaking, eating, and drinking. They can also change shape when you smile or frown. An example of lips is that you can use them to make different shapes like an “O” for a kiss or an upside down “V” to make a funny face. Lips are also important for facial expressions. Studies have shown that people can understand the emotion of a person just by looking at their lips. An analogy for lips could be like a gate to a city. The city is the mouth and the gate is the lips. Just like a gate, the lips open and close to let things in and out of the mouth. Fun fact: Did you know that the skin on your lips is actually thinner than the skin anywhere else on your body? That’s why they feel so soft and sensitive!
