Changing your car’s oil is one of those things that seems like it should be really hard, but it’s actually really easy. Just grab a few tools, some new oil, and you’re good to go! Here’s how it’s done: 1. Start by making sure your car is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool. 2. Pop the hood and locate the oil cap. It’s usually on the top of the engine. 3. Place a drain pan underneath the drain plug and loosen it with a wrench. 4. Let the old oil drain out completely. 5. Re-attach the drain plug and fill the engine with the new oil. 6. Replace the oil filter and fill it with new oil. 7. Re-attach the oil cap and start the engine. 8. Check the oil level and top off as needed. And just like that, you’re done! Fun fact: it takes about 5 quarts of oil to fill up the average car engine.
