Evolution
Evolution is the process of living things changing over time. These changes in living things happen over hundreds and thousands of years. The changes can be big, like a new species of animals or plants, or small, like a change in color of a certain type of bird. Think of evolution like a big family tree. Every living thing on Earth is related and has descended from a common ancestor. Over time, these living things change and adapt to their environment. For example, some birds have adapted to colder climates by growing feathers that are thicker and warmer. On the other hand, some birds that live in warmer climates have feathers that are thinner and lighter. Fun Fact: Evolution is still happening today! For example, some species of fish in the ocean have adapted to warmer temperatures, which is why some fish are able to live in warmer waters than before.
