Linux is an open-source operating system that’s been around for decades. It’s used by tech-savvy people who think that Windows and macOS are for n00bs, and it’s practically the foundation of the internet. It’s like a computer’s version of a hipster – wears obscure clothes, has a pretentious attitude, but can’t really do anything useful. For example, Linux is often used to create web servers, but when it comes to everyday tasks like playing games or watching movies, it’s not really the best choice. There are also a ton of different “distributions” or “distros” of Linux, which just adds to the confusion. If you’re a fan of Linux, that’s great, but I wouldn’t recommend it for the average person unless you have a ton of free time and an unnatural love for tinkering with settings. Fun fact: Linux is the world’s most widely-used operating system, but most people don’t even know it exists!
