42 is a special number that has been used in a lot of different ways. It’s an answer to a famous question in a popular book called “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and it is also the atomic number for the element Molybdenum. In mathematics, 42 is a triangular number (the sum of all the counting numbers up to itself) and an abundant number (the sum of its proper divisors is greater than itself). It is also an even composite number and a sphenic number (a number that is the product of three distinct prime numbers). In sports, 42 is a special number for the late great Jackie Robinson, who was the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball. He wore the number 42 on his uniform to honor him. Fun fact: The longest street in the world is Yonge Street in Ontario, Canada, and it is 1,896 kilometers long – 42 times the length of the Golden Gate Bridge!
